Sew Chaotically! ~ The Veronika Circle Skirt by Megan Nielsen Patterns

Last month I had fun creating a little Spring Capsule Wardrobe for Roo!  I really enjoyed the process, using only bits and pieces that I had in my stash - both patterns and fabric.  As a base, I started with The Veronika Circle Skirt, from Megan Nielsen Patterns.  A simple but versatile pattern that can be stitched up in a knit (with an elastic waist) or woven (with a zip), patch pockets or not.  I considered adding side seam pockets to Roo's knit versions, but given the pretty drape without them, decided against.

So easy to dress up or down!  Worn here with a new addition to the wardrobe, a top from Butterick's 4734 shirt dress pattern.
Here with a ready-to-wear tee!
If one skirt is good, another has got to be better, right????  Both made in a fairly substantial ponte knit with adequate stretch, per the pattern stretch measurement guide, using my serger.   No changes beyond shortening the waistband just a bit and widening it to accommodate 1.5 inch elastic I had on hand, rather than the 1 inch the pattern called for.  Length determined for both by width of the fabric, with the blue being slightly more narrow.  Hemmed by hand after knit stay tape applied to raw edge.
The drape is just lovely with plenty of room for an active teacher to move!!  Speaking of, this number top has worked well for Roo's work (with a black tank beneath) and play.  It was made using B5895.  Deets on making both tops featured coming soon!
